Introduction
Go Universe Go ("we", "us", or "our") is a free educational space game for children. We take the privacy of our users — especially children — very seriously. This policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and how we protect it.
Children's Privacy
Go Universe Go is designed for children. We comply with the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA) and the General Data Protection Regulation provisions for children (GDPR-K).
- We do not collect personal information from children.
- We do not require account creation or login.
- We do not use targeted advertising.
- We do not allow children to publicly share personal information.
- We do not sell or share any user data with third parties.
Information We Collect
Analytics (Google Analytics)
We use Google Analytics (GA4) to understand how visitors use our site. Google Analytics collects:
- Pages visited and time spent on the site
- General device information (browser type, screen size, operating system)
- Approximate geographic region (country/city level)
- Referral source (how you found our site)
This data is collected in aggregate and cannot be used to identify individual users. We have configured Google Analytics with the following privacy protections:
- IP anonymization is enabled
- Data sharing with Google products is disabled
- No demographic or interest reporting is enabled
Contact Form
Our support form opens your email client to send a message to us. We do not store form submissions on our servers. If you send us an email, we will only use your name and email address to respond to your inquiry and will not add you to any mailing lists.
Cookies
Go Universe Go uses cookies only through Google Analytics. These are first-party cookies used to distinguish unique visitors and track sessions. No cookies are used for advertising or tracking across other websites.
You can disable cookies in your browser settings at any time. The game will continue to work normally without cookies.
Third-Party Services
Our site loads resources from the following third-party services:
- Google Analytics (analytics.google.com) — website analytics
- Unsplash (images.unsplash.com) — serves decorative images on the landing page
- NASA (various nasa.gov domains) — serves educational images within the game
Each of these services has its own privacy policy. We do not control the data they may collect through their services.
Data Storage
Go Universe Go does not have a backend server or database. No data is transmitted to or stored on our servers.
To let players pick up where they left off, the game saves progress to your browser's local storage (a built-in browser feature). This data stays entirely on your device, is never sent anywhere, and includes only:
- Your current score and player health
- Which planets and destinations you have visited
- Which space facts you have collected
- Your current location in the game
No personal information is stored. You can clear this saved data at any time by clicking the "Reset Progress" button on the homepage, or by clearing your browser's local storage. If you prefer not to save progress, the game works perfectly without it — simply clear your browser data after each session.
Data Security
Our site is served over HTTPS, which encrypts all data transmitted between your browser and our servers. The site is hosted on Vercel, which provides infrastructure-level security.
Your Rights
Since we do not collect or store personal information, there is generally no personal data to access, correct, or delete. If you have sent us an email via the contact form and would like us to delete your correspondence, please contact us and we will do so promptly.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this privacy policy from time to time. Any changes will be posted on this page with an updated "Last updated" date.
